Niles soccer team suffers 3-2 loss to Sturgis in overtime

NILES - Niles' varsity soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime Tuesday afternoon against Sturgis.
The Trojans took control of the game early and had a 2-0 lead at halftime, scoring goals in the 31st and 14th minutes.
In the second half, the Vikings were able to tie the game at two when C.J. Rumpf scored a goal during the 28th minute and Michael Tanke punched the ball in the net during the 22nd minute. But in overtime, it was Sturgis who scored the game winning goal.
The Vikings had 14 shots on goal, while the Trojans had nine.
“All in all, I was happy with how we played. We just need to execute a bit better," Holtgren added.
Niles will return to SMAC action on Thursday.
