EDWARDSBURG - Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray reports his department is investigating a pursuit that took place at 6:35 a.m. today, Oct. 13.
Officer John Sailor was running traffic patrol on Cass Street (Dailey Road) in the Village of Edwardsburg when he clocked a vehicle at 45 mph in a 25-mph zone.
Upon turning on the lights, the suspect vehicle fled down Cass Street south onto Elkhart Road, running all stop signs and lights and continuing into Indiana.
At what is known as Bender's Corners (County Road 4 and County Road 5) in Indiana, the vehicle ran the stop sign and was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The driver then jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot to the south.
Officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene and called in a canine to track the suspect.
