Rangers pass by Comets

COLOMA - The Cassopolis varsity football team used a Paul Curtis touchdown pass and a John McCoy run to slip past the host Coloma Comets on Friday night.
The Rangers improved to 3-4 on the season and 2-3 in the league with a 14-7 victory over the Comets.
Neither team scored in the opening 12 minutes of play, however, the Rangers grabbed a 6-0 lead in the second quarter when Andre Broussard scored on a 20-yard strike from Curtis.
Cassopolis failed on the two-point conversion run, however, leaving it with just a six-point advantage heading into the second half.
The Rangers increased their advantage to 14-0 when McCoy scored on a two-yard run.
The Rangers converted a two-point conversion pass to extend their lead.
Coloma averted the shut out with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Joe Richardson scored on a 46-yard bomb from Alex Garrod. The extra point kick was good to complete the scoring.
The Rangers finished the night going 6-of-8 for 63 yards.
Cassopolis rushed for 126 yards, led by Lonnie Williams, who finished the night with 73 yards on 16 carries.
The Rangers also got 26 yards from A.J. Ballard on nine totes.
The Comets rushed for 233 yards and were 4-of-13 for 66 yards passing.
Both teams threw an interception. The Rangers had a pair of fumbles compared to just one fumble by the Comets.
