NILES - The hammering, sawing and other noises associated with construction are finally over for those who teach, work and learn in Brandywine Community Schools.
The Brandywine Community Schools Board of Education would like to invite parents of students, business owners and other community members to an open house at Brandywine Middle/High School to see the newly completed renovations.
The open house will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24.
In other news, Rider said the district has been able to hire a speech pathologist, who started Monday, through a contracted service.
The district has been looking to fill this position for quite some time, but has had trouble with not enough speech pathologists being available.
Finally the Board approved the request of high school teacher Judith Harrison, who herself is from England, to take six or seven Brandywine 11th graders to Brighouse High School in England during the spring of 2006.
The students will stay with students from the school during their two-week trip, go to school with them and travel to local places of historic interest.
In the fall, the English students will travel to Niles to get a taste of the American culture.
The program is similar to that of the Dutch Exchange program which is already instituted at the school.
