Rangers fall to Berrien Springs

A 20-point second quarter kept Berrien Springs tied for the top spot in the Lakeland Conference football race Friday night.
The Shamrocks defeated host Cassopolis, 40-6, to set up a showdown this Friday night with Edwardsburg.
Both teams are undefeated headed into the contest.
Berrien Springs opened the scoring in the first quarter with a two-yard run by Jonny Rodriguez.
Cassopolis cut the lead to 7-6 with its lone touchdown of the night in the second quarter.
Paul Curtis scored from a yard out, however, the Rangers were unable to tie the score when the extra point kick was blocked.
It was all Berrien Springs from there as the Shamrocks scored three times to take a 27-6 lead into halftime.
Anton Lockett returned the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown before Rodriguez scored another two-yard touchdown.
The Shamrocks completed the scoring on a 100-yard interception return by Scott Snyder.
Berrien Springs scored on an 18-yard Kolby Wood pass reception from Shelby Wood in the third quarter, and then completed the scoring in the fourth quarter when Darius Whitehead scored on a 10-yard run.
Berrien Springs had 100 yards rushing and 121 yards passing, while the Rangers finished with 207 yards rushing and 126 yards passing.
Lonnie Williams led the Rangers with 102 yards on 11 carries.
