It's hard to believe that area golf and tennis teams are beginning district and conference play.
Niles began district play on Thursday in Plainwell and advanced to regionals, which will be held on Oct. 6.
The Vikings placed sixth with a team score of 378. Way to go Vikes!
Brandywine and Buchanan's golf teams will begin play today.
The Bobcats and the Bucks' tennis teams began conference play this morning at Leeper Park in Soiuth Bend, Ind.
Matches will continue all day, so if you get an opportunity, stop by and check them out.
Brandywine is going to be a tough defender heading into the matches with a record of 12-0-1. Most people, as well as coach Joe Marazita, were surprised with how well the team has performed this season, giving the fact they have so many young, new faces.
Buchanan is also a team with a lot of new players as well as a young line up. But the team has really come around and should also have a good showing at the conference tournament.
Let's see what else is going on on this busy Friday…football of course! All area teams are playing a divisional/conference game.
Niles will be traveling to St. Joe to take on the Bears, who haven't had much luck this season and have yet to win a game. The Vikes shouldn't have a problem adding another win to their record.
Brandywine will be traveling to River Valley in hopes of rebounding from its loss last Friday to Cassopolis. The Mustangs are also winless heading into tonight's game.
Buchanan will be hosting Edwardsburg, who is undefeated in the LAC so far this season.
All games are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and, as I said last week, bundle up!! It's going to be a cold one.
Don't forget to check out the 33rd annual Apple Festival that is going on as we speak. Lots of food, rides, games and arts and crafts make this fall festival a blast!
The Grand Parade begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. This year I hear there are 107 particpants! Check today's front page for a complete list of units.
Fireworks will be set off tonight and tomorrow night at approximately 9 p.m. Concerts and contests also make this event fun for all ages!
Have a great weekend and good luck to all teams competing!!
