NILES - The work of another one of Niles many artists will be on display at the Riverfront Cafe's art gallery.
Heather VanDyke-Pletcher work which ranges from simple organic shapes to tiny detailed designs to realistic landscapes and still lifes, will be on display at the gallery which is located at 219 N. Front St., in downtown Niles, from Oct. 2 to the 31.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m., there will be an artists reception.
VanDyke-Pletcher's work often resembles folk art with a leaning towards children's illustrations and also creates many wooden ornaments varying from storybook figures to historical buildings of Niles. Many of her works are in oil or latex-acrylic on canvas, cardboard, wood, groud or paper maiche.
VanDyke-Pletcher graduated from Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn., with a Bachelor of arts degree in art. Since then she has taken additional courses at Western Michigan University and at the Oxbow School of Painting, South Bend Art Center and Fernwood.
VanDyke-Pletcher has been in numerous shows, which resulted in some prizes. In 1979 she has her first one-women show in Nancy Drew's Art Gallery in Niles. Her goal is to give back her best from all that she has been given.
