Dowagiac tennis team falls to Lakeview

The Dowagiac varsity tennis team kicked off an extremely busy week with a 7-1 loss to host Battle Creek Lakeview on Monday afternoon.
Dowagiac's lone victory came at No. 1 doubles where Calie Daniels and Lindsay Tyler posted a 7-5 and 7-5 victory.
Dowagiac was pretty much dominated in singles competition, winning just 14 games.
Amelia First had the closest match as she fell in straight sets to Emily Labreque 6-4 and 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
Lisa Rubino suffered a 6-2 and 6-0 decision at the hands of Maggie Remynse, while Ann O'Keefe was defeated by Jessica Corns 6-1 and 6-0.
Taylor Townsend was defeated at No. 3 singles by Elyse Coughlin 6-1 and 6-2.
At No. 2 doubles, Ashley Smith and Kim Rutkowski fell to Airi Fukuoka and Jia Jia Zhang 6-2 and 6-0.
Tonya Scherer and Shelly Urbanski were defeated by Brie Steffel and Chantel Bhan at No. 3 doubles, 6-2 and 6-1.
At No. 4 doubles, Kate Duszynski and Kayleigh Sundman were defeated by Katie Dickman and Karisa Cowles 6-2 and 6-0.
Dowagiac is back in action today when it travels to Niles to take on Brandywine in a non-conference match to be held at Plym Park. The match begins at 4 p.m.
