NILES - The Union Church Historical and Preservation Society started working in July to restore the Union Church at the corner of M-140 and Pokagon Road, just north of Niles.
This week, the society received a $1,000 donation from the Eau Claire, American Legion, Post 353, to help continue with the work being done.
In 2007, the church which was built in 1857, will be 150 years old and the society is already planning a celebration.
Anyone who is interested in helping with the restoration project or would like to donate funds, materials or labor can contact Lois Foster at 683-1776 or mail their donation to The Union Church Historical and Preservation Society, c/o Berrien Township Office P.O. Box 61 Berrien Center, MI 49102.
