Dowagiac freshmen lose, JV tie Lakeshore

The Dowagiac freshmen football team continued to struggle Thursday night as it was defeated by host Lakeshore, 37-17.
Aaron Caldwell and Tim DeRyder scored Dowagiac's touchdowns.
Defensively for the Chieftains, Chad Ottinger had a pair of fumble recoveries.
Phil Presley recovered a fumble as well for Dowagiac.
The Chieftains will host Sturgis on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Chris Taylor-Alumni Field.
JV football
The Dowagiac junior varsity football team had to settle for a 14-14 draw with the Lakeshore Lancers in a game that was halted in the third quarter by lightning.
Dowagiac led 14-0 on touchdowns by Terry Prowozniak and Troy Stover, who caught a pass from Jake Cox. Kyle Prak added both extra points for the Chieftains.
Lakeshore took advantage of several Dowagiac mistakes to get back into the game, including a fumble recovering in the end zone for a touchdown.
Dowagiac will host Sturgis next Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
