Marijuana-growing operation uncovered in Porter

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team reports that on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at approximately 7 p.m., while investigating a tip that subjects were selling marijuana from a residence in the 67000 block of M-40 in Porter Township, east of Union, they came across an elaborate marijuana growing operation inside of the residence.
The operation included timers, moving grow lamps and temperature- controlled rooms.
Investigators found more than 230 potted marijuana plants in various stages of growing as well as marijuana that had been processed, packaging material and items such as scales that showed that the marijuana was also being sold by the owner of the residence.
The owner was arrested and charged with various narcotics-related charges as well as various firearms charges.
He was lodged in the Cass County Jail to await arraignment, after which time his name will be released.
