Dowagiac gets by Berrien Springs

Dowagiac's offensive explosion continued Wednesday afternoon as the Chieftains held off Berrien Springs in a non-conference match, 9-5.
The Chieftains raced out to a 6-2 lead on the visiting Shamrocks as Tony Black scored his second consecutive hat trick.
Brian Edgerly, who also finished with a hat trick (three goals), opened the scoring in the second minute off an assist by Adam Hess.
Black scored the first of his three goals in the third minute with an assist from Kyle Kowalski.
Edgerly netted his second goal in the 15th minute to make it 3-0. Pat Brosnan assisted on the goal.
Berrien Springs' Augustus Sampah made it a 3-1 contest with the first of his four goals in the 23rd minute.
Andrew Cuthbert gave Dowagiac a three goal lead once again in the 28th minute off an assist from Hess.
Black scored his second goal with an assist from Robbie Hyche in the 31st minute to make it 5-1. Sampah cut the lead to 5-2 in the 32nd minute, however, Kowalski tallied in the 38th minute to complete the first half scoring.
Black opened the second half with a goal off an assist from Hess in the 43rd minute.
Sampah scored back-to-back goals in the 46th and 53rd minutes to make it a 7-4 match.
Hess tallied in the 67th minute off an assist from Edgerly. Edgerly then completed the scoring for Dowagiac in the 68th minute with an assist from Black.
Tony Beall completed the scoring for the Shamrocks with a goal in the 70th minute.
