NILES - Heather Seyfred set a new school record in career scoring Tuesday night in leading Bridgman to a 57-42 victory over host Brandywine in Lakeland Conference play.
Seyfred scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the opening half as the Lady Bees rolled to a 33-15 halftime advantage.
Seyfred scored all 29 points in the first three quarters of the contest to eclipse the all-time scoring record of 1,495 points set by Stephanie Kelsey.
Turnovers against the Lady Bees' pressure defense did the Lady Bobcats in over the first 16 minutes of the contest.
Bridgman (4-1, 3-0) grabbed a 19-6 first quarter lead thanks to Seyfred, who scored 16 of the Lady Bees' points in the quarter on a variety of jumpers and layups.
Bridgman continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and outscored Brandywine 14-9.
Miranda Strefling scored seven points to lead Bridgman in the second period.
Brandywine played much better in the second period, but still had trouble hanging on to the basketball.
Kalie Newman and Kelli Konopka both had four points in the quarter for the Lady Bobcats.
The two teams played nearly even in the third quarter, however, Bridgman did manage to hold a 15-13 scoring advantage on the Lady Bobcats to increase its lead to 48-28 heading into the final stanza.
Brandywine outscored Bridgman 14-9 in the fourth quarter.
Konopka had four points, while Mallory Barber and Newman both finished with three points.
