CASSOPOLIS - The Cass County Department of Human Services Board of Directors Tuesday announced the hiring of a new administrator for the Cass County Medical Care Facility.
Following an extensive search, aided by a consultant, the board hired Larry Tebeau.
Tebeau, 52, of Grandville, a suburb of Grand Rapids, is a licensed nursing home administrator in Ohio and Michigan.
He holds a degree in organizational administration in health care and has been certified mediator for the Center for Dispute Resolution in Holland.
Tebeau has also served as a consultant to long-term care facilities and hospitals on operational and development issues.
He has been involved in all aspects of nursing home organization.
Tebeau is in the process of moving to Cass County. His position as the Medical Care Facility's administrator became effective Sept. 16.
Cass County Medical Care Facility is an 80-bed skilled facility located at 23770 Hospital St., Cassopolis.
Tebeau said he began volunteering with the Center for Dispute Resolution about a year and a half ago. "Mediation keeps people from going to court if it's something that can be handled in a face-to-face meeting."
Tebeau hails from Ohio and came to Michigan six years ago in 1999.
Though he lived in Grandville, the home he administered was located in Allendale, home of Grand Valley State University.
Tebeau's two children are grown. His son just graduated from Lake Superior State College and may continue his education at Kentucky State University. His daughter, who lives in Ohio, has given him two grandchildren.
Cass County appealed to him because his interests include fishing, camping and cooking.
The community is invited to drop in to visit the facility and to welcome Larry.
