Chieftains fall to B.C. Lakeview

The Dowagiac varsity basketball team suffered a 62-37 Big 16 Conference non-divisional loss to host Battle Creek Lakeview Tuesday night.
The Chieftains (2-5) have now lost five games in a row after starting the season 2-0.
Dowagiac was in the game through the first half, but were outscored 19-4 in the pivotal third quarter.
Both teams tallied nine points in the opening eight minutes, however, Lakeview forged ahead 29-24 at the intermission after outscoring the Chieftains 20-15 in the second quarter.
Battle Creek continued to outscore the Chieftains in the final eight minutes, holding a 14-9 in the final eight minutes.
Dowagiac had just 10 field goals on the night and was 14-of-27 from the free throw line.
Battle Creek Lakeview on the other hand had 23 field goals and was 14-of-29 from the charity stripe.
Katy Stuppy led the Chieftains with 13 points, while Holly Lowe finished with eight points.
Dowagiac also got four points from Amber Clark and Kristy Cooper.
Jessica Ismiri and led all scorers with 16 points. Lakeview also got 15 points from Angie Rizor.
Dowagiac returns to action on Thursday when it heads to Allegan for a non-league game.
