The Dowagiac varsity soccer team scored four goals in the first half on its way to a 6-1 non-conference win over visiting Marcellus on Monday.
Tony Black got Dowagiac off to a quick start as he scored a hat trick in the opening 21 minutes of the match.
Black scored his first goal in the fourth minute on an assist from Kyle Kowalski.
Black then made it 2-0 on a goal off an assist from David Cardenas in the 20th minute. His third goal of the night came in the 21st minute, again with an assist from Kowalski.
Cardenas scored the first of his two goals in the 23rd minute to complete the first half scoring. Andrew Cuthbert assisted on the goal.
In the second half Dowagiac got goals from Cardenas in the 50th minute and Brian Edgerly in the 54th minute.
Edgerly assisted on the Cardenas goal.
Marcellus averted the shutout with a goal from Felipe Sonuz in the 77th minute.
