Support the Fort honored by Western Michigan University

NILES - Support the Fort held a special monthly meeting Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Niles District Library where Sean Dunham, President of Conference of Michigan Archaeology presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Ruth Semones, president of the Fort organization.
The award reads, "The Conference of Michigan Archaeology expresses its appreciation to Support the Fort, Inc. for providing financial and logistical support of archaeological fieldwork to investigate Fort St. Joseph and developing a program of public outreach in the community."
Western Michigan University's Dr. Michael Nassaney and Dr. William Cremin were awarded Honorary Lifetime Memberships to Support the Fort.
Judy van der Linden, curator of the Southwestern Michigan College Museum presented a very informative program, "Native American Trails of the Berrien and Cass county areas.
Support the Fort began in 1992 and two charter members were in attendance at the September meeting. STF's monthly meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Niles District Library.
