8th grade wins again

The Dowagiac Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team defeated St. Joe Upton Thursday night 36-5.
Dowagiac (2-0) got 15 points from Torrie Lowe, 11 points from Marcie Ennesser and eight points from Britnee Allerton.
Kelsey Foote scored two points.
Defensively the Chieftains held St. Joseph scoreless in the second and third quarters.
The defensive effort was led by Cassie Stone and Leana Allen.
The eighth grade hosts South Haven on Monday afternoon. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Dowagiac "B" team also came away with a victory as it defeated St. Joe Upton, 34-6.
Jasmine Chambliss led Dowagiac with 24 points. Macy Howard had four points.
Cierra Mattix, Ali Hess and Joanna Pickar all had two points.
The Chieftains played solid defense all night led by Hoard, Mattix and Taylor Gross.
The squad is back in action on Monday against South Haven.
Seventh grade
The seventh grade "A" and "B" teams were both victorious against St. Joe Upton Thursday.
The "A" team squeaked out a 22-20 victory, while the "B" team posted a 26-13 win.
Vicky Robinson scored a game-high 16 points. Dowagiac also got four points from Kaisha Martin and two points from Krista Green.
Shatesha White led the "B" team with 14 points. Breneesha Jones added eight points, while Ashley Charles and Rebecca Muha both tallied two points.
Dowagiac is back in action on Monday against South Haven.
