NILES - A horse can bring about a multitude of good feelings, not only for the rider.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, the We Can Ride 4-H Club will be hosting its annual Ride and Walk-A-Thon.
The event is being held at Russ Forest County Park, located at 20379 Marcellus Highway east of Dowagiac.
The ride and walk-a-thon is the group's largest fundraiser of the year.
The We Can Ride 4-H Club is a therapeutic riding program for disabled youth. The club serves 25 participants with the help of over 100 volunteers. The club operates solely on donations from community members and corporate sponsors.
There is opportunity for all who become involved with the We Can Ride 4-H Club. Those who participate will benefit by riding their horse or walking on the many beautiful trails at Russ Forest and the club benefits from the pledges and donations.
All of the funds raised will be used solely for the benefit of the club and are tax deductible.
Those wishing to donate to the We Can Ride 4-H Club can make their check payable to the club. Registration for the ride and walk-a-thon will take place between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Those participating with horses in the ride and walk-a-thon can enter the park through the east entrance. All others attending the event can enter through the west entrance.
Lunch and refreshments will be available to those participating and those collecting more than $50 in pledges will be given a free t-shirt.
