NILES - Another talented community member will have her work on display.
Lois Stethem, of Niles, will have her striking photographs on display at the Riverfront Cafe art gallery, located at 219 N. Front St., in Niles, from Sept. 2 through Sept. 29.
An open house for Stethem's exhibit will be on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Riverfront Cafe gallery from 2 to 4 p.m.
Stethem, who was born in Mishawaka, Ind. in 1929, has four children, Nina (Doug) Ditsch, Bryan (Vicky stethem, Larry Stethem and Kristi (Matt) Brazo. She also has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Mishawaka High school.
Stethem's biggest thrill was winning the Parade magazine's "Let Freedom Ring Contest" in 1991. She was one of five people to have their photo featured on the cover of the magazine.
The picture featured was on display at Disney World and other cities all over the United States.
In 2000, Stethem once again won a Parade contest, which was titled "Our Animal Friends."
Stethem's photos have also been chosen to be used in the annual Answerbook edition published by Leader Publications.
Stethem travels with her friend Ray Herschberger and have found Alaska to be the most phographic place they had ever seen.
