Cass County Medical Examiner Dr. Robert Knox received the 2005 Osteopathic Service Award at a ceremony at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
Dr. Knox was selected by the Osteopathic Medical Foundation of Michiana for displaying outstanding service, involvement and leadership in his local community.
Dr. Knox has practiced medicine for 47 years in Edwardsburg.
He's served as county medical examiner since 1964 and continues in that capacity.
He is a graduate of the Chicago School of Osteopathy, and is board-certified in Family Practice Medicine.
Dr. Knox continues to work two days a week at this clinic.
His partner, Dr. Mark Schmeltz, who attended the event and announced the award, described Dr. Knox as one of those rare physicians who "still takes phone calls at his home," and is beloved by the thousands of patients he has treated over the years.
Dr. Knox was joined by his wife, Doris, his three grown children and seven grandchildren for the event, "Celebrate the D.O. Difference!"
