Brandywine tennis team stayin’ on top

NILES - "Cross-town rivals are always fun for the players as they are competing hard for bragging rights," Brandywine head coach Joe Marazita said.
That's exactly what the Bobcats earned Tuesday afternoon when they hosted and defeated Niles, 5-3, in non-conference action at Plym Park.
The Vikings dominated the singles flights, taking three of four wins, but Brandywine took wins in all of its double flights to earn it the win.
Niles' Annalee Nelson took the 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles against Brandywine's Amy Konopinski.
At No. 2 singles, Nicole Negron grabbed the 6-0, 6-0 win against Aubrey Espick.
Amelia Harrison took the only win in singles flights for Brandywine at No. 3 singles, defeating Andrea Clabaugh 6-4, 6-2.
Nicole Weber took a 6-1, 6-4 win over Brittney Patterson at No. 4 singles.
In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Bethany Daniel and Ashley Valentine took a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sam Beck and Danielle Lowery.
Erin Sinkoff and Jamie Bartuske grabbed the 6-0, 6-2 win over Heather Croteau and Patty Anton at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, Niles' Ashley Jenks and Meagan Horn fell to Erin Fuson and Samantha Quartuccio, 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 4 doubles, Morgan Bailey and Jo Ferenczi grabbed the 6-2, 6-3 win over Niles' Hilary Langraf and Jewel Sirmons.
The Vikings return to the court today when they travel to St. Joe. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
Brandywine will travel to Cassopolis, with the match beginning at 4 p.m.
