Hospice is a concept of care which is designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their family when a life-limiting illness no longer requires them to have a curing treatment.
The care they receive with Hospice doesn't prolong their life and at the same time it doesn't hasten their death.
Hospice volunteers and staff provide specialized knowledge of medical care, which included pain management.
Their ultimate goal is to provide care that helps to improve the quality of life for the patient during their last days.
During the patient's treatment by Hospice, the staff offers the family and friends support and helps them to deal with the emotional, spiritual and social impacts of the patient's disease.
After the patient has passed on and even during the treatment time, Hospice offers the family bereavement and counseling services.
