NILES - The Teachers Association and Brandywine School Board have ratified a new three year contract that will last through June of 2008.
Teachers will receive a 2.15 percent increase in salary the first year of the contract and a 2.00 percent increase the second. Teachers did not receive a salary increase during the 2004-05 school year.
Teachers agreed to a lower cost insurance program switching from MESSA Super Care I to MESSA Choices II, and also agreed to pay a portion of premium increases the second year of the contract should rates increase between 10 and 20 percent. In recent years, insurance premium increases from MESSA have fallen within that range.
A synopsis of the agreement includes:
Last year's contract (04-05 school year):
No salary increase
Same insurance coverage
Five fewer work days
New Contract - Year 1 (05-06 school year):
2.15 percent salary increase for the 05/06.
Lower cost insurance (MESSA Choices II).
New Contract - Year 2 (06-07 school year):
If the district receives an increase in foundation grant of at least $100, and the increase in the insurance premium for MESSA Choices II is less than 20 percent, then:
2.00 percent salary increase
District pays first 10 percent of any increase in premiums.
District and teachers split any increase beyond 10 percent.
New Contract – Year 3 (07-08 school year):
Contract language stays in tact.
Salary and Insurance are open for negotiation.
