Area schools start Monday

NILES - A reminder to those whose children attend Niles, Brandywine and Buchanan schools.
Students in those school districts are enjoying their last few carefree summer days as they head back to school on Monday, Aug. 29.
Both the breakfast and lunch programs will begin on the first day of school for all students.
Niles Community Schools
Northside: A.M. Begindergarten/Kindergarten 8:54 a.m. – 12:02 p.m.
P.M. Begindergarten/Kindergarten 12:37 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
A.M. Special Education 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
P.M. Special Education 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
James Ellis Elementary: 8:34 a.m. – 3:25 p.m

Transportation information for any student who rides a bus, including a list of bus stop schedule, is available in the district's yearly calender which all Niles residents should have received in the mail. If you have not received your calender yet, one can be picked up at the Westside Administration office.
Brandywine Community Schools
Monday, Aug. 29, will be a full day of school for students in grades seven through 12 and a half day for kindergarten through sixth grade.
Merritt Elementary: 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
A.M. Kindergarten: 8:30 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.
P.M. Kindergarten: 12:10 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Brandywine Elementary: 8:40 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.
Brandywine Middle / High School: 7:40 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.
Bell Education Center (Alternative Ed.): 8:13 a.m. – 2:37 p.m.
Students needing busing can get a bus schedule either in the Paw Prints school newsletter or it is posted on the front of Merritt or Brandywine elementaries.
Buchanan Community Schools
High school students should report to their assigned homeroom at 7:50 a.m. Homeroom assignments will be posted throughout the building. Students will be in school for the entire day with dismissal at 2:35 p.m.
High school alternative education students should report to the alternative school on Andrews Road at 8:10 a.m. Monday for a full day of class. New students wishing to be considered for this program should contact the high school assistant principal at 695-8404.
Middle school students should report to the middle school by 7:35 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29. This will be a full day of class. Doors at the middle school will open at 7:10 a.m. for students wishing to have breakfast at school. Doors open for all other students at 7:25 a.m. Classes will end at 2:25 p.m
Elementary school students in grades 1-5 should report to their assigned school and classroom by 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 29. This will be a full day of school for all first through fifth grade students. Both breakfast and lunch service will be available on that day.
Kindergarten and pre-school students have a different schedule for Monday, Aug. 29. Students assigned to the morning session will stay until 11:30 a.m. Students assigned to the afternoon session should report to their classroom at 1 p.m. with their parent(s). They will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. Parents need to bring their kindergartener or pre-schooler to school. Regular bus service for kindergarteners and pre-schoolers will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
