NILES - "We are extremely excited to be building a new 7,000 sq. ft. Hummer facility next to our GM dealership on M-51 in Niles," Scott Tyler, President of Tyler Automotive, GM Division, said. "We have always taken pride in being AM General's hometown Hummer dealer and are now very proud to be bringing this market the state-of-the-art Hummer facility it deserves. We expect to start construction in September and finish by early March."
The Niles location was chosen by General Motors not by accident, he added.
He believes that the Niles Tyler Automotive may be the only dealership in the country offering all of General Motors' core brands - Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, GMC Truck and Hummer.
There are only 167 Hummer dealers in the United States.
He expects an increase in volume of the new H3 Hummers sold to rise to 400 per year.
Tyler Automotive serves not only the Michiana area, but considers its terrority to extend 120 miles north to south (from just north of Indianapolis to Kalamazoo) and 80 miles from east to west (Jackson, to Michigan City, Ind.)
He is hopeful the traffic generated to Niles will also benefit other retailers in the area.
The Hummer building's appearance promises to be unusual.
