Wayne Twp. Fire Department awarded $237,500

WASHINGTON - Sens. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., and Carl Levin, D-Mich., announced Thursday that 74 Michigan fire departments, including three in Cass County, have received a total of $5,910,928 in grants under terms of the fiscal year 2005 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Wayne Township Fire Department of Dowagiac is getting $237,500 for vehicle acquisition.
Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department of Dowagiac is allotted $84,022 for operations and safety.
Marcellus Fire Department was awarded $193,325 for vehicle acquisition.
Assistance to Firefighters grants fund several areas of support for communities.
The Operations and Firefighter Safety Program provides firefighters with training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and facilities modifications.
The Firefighting Vehicle Acquisition Program allows departments to purchase vehicles such as pumpers, ambulances, brush trucks, aerials, rescue vehicles and fireboats.
