Vikings wear down after four straight days of golf

NILES - The Niles golf team had a strong start to its first week of play, but after four straight days on the golf course, the Vikes ran out of gas.
Niles took 11th out of 21 teams at the Battle Creek Invitational Thursday held at Marywood Golf Course.
Battle Creek Lakeview won the tournament, which was hosted by Battle Creek Central, with a team total of 283.
Niles had a total team score of 321, with Dowagiac finishing just behind with a 323.
Scott Majerek shot an 80 on the day, playing on the gold tees, Alex Welch shot an 82, playing on the white tees and D.J. Wolnick shot a 90, playing on the red tees.
Chris Haas and Jeff Jurgonski played a two-man scramble and shot a 69.
The Vikings face Cassopolis on Monday at orchard Hills Country Club. Tee time is set for 9:30 a.m.
For Dowagiac, Adam Carlson and Richie Hutchinson made up the scramble team. Nick Krizinski played from the white tees with Jarod Schinski playing from the gold tees and Kevin Proshwitz playing from the red tees.
Carlson and Hutchinson shot 78. Krizinski shot 82 with Schinski shooting 82 and Proshwitz shooting 81.
