CASSOPOLIS - With numbers from 25 to 40 boys, girls, men, and women showing up in the camp every afternoon last week, this made for one of the best tennis camps ever.
Coach Scott Marshall's love of tennis is paying off by getting the community involved with one of the best sports out there. A true sport for life, for all!
Marshall recruited tennis professionals and seasoned tennis players with many years of experience to help him instruct in his tennis camp this summer. These instructors came from many of the surrounding towns to help with the camp.
The instructors that helped with the program were, Curtis Partee from Dowagiac, Kevin Richardson from Cassopolis, Dave Negron and Bruce Secor from Niles. Marshall also had a fun night the last night of the camp with prizes donated by the Sweet Spot (tennis shop) in Mishawaka (Ind.), and prizes he donated. All the campers had a great time.
The players are some of the best ever. The Cassopolis Public Schools program is starting to turn into a real tennis icon. They still have a very young team, but the development is there.
The team is now starting to build depth.
There are even some eighth graders coming along that will be strong players once they reach the high school level.
With a few juniors that have been playing through high school, they now have the leadership to have some schools wondering if they can pull off a win against the Rangers. It should make for an interesting and fun-filled season.
