Area teams keeping busy

EAU CLAIRE - The Dowagiac varsity golf team finished second in the Green Division of the Berrien Springs Invitational on Wednesday at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course.
Lakeshore was the overall winner with a team total of 208. Dowagiac finished with a 211, while Edwardsburg was third with a 225.
Buchanan and Coloma both finished with 230s, while Brandywine did not post a score.
In the Gold Division, Lawton won with a 211, while Cassopolis was second with a 216 and River Valley third with a 225.
The tournament was an all scramble format.
Dowagiac's No. 1 scramble team of Adam Carlson and Richie Hutchinson shot 68, while the No. 3 team of Nick Krizinski and Kevin Proshwitz shot 71. The Chieftains' No. 2 team of Mike Hoff and Jarod Schinski finished with a 72.
Lakeshore's No. 3 scramble team shot the day's low score with a 65.
River Valley's No. 3 scramble team shot a 67, while Cassopolis' No. 1 squad shot a 68.
The Buchanan No. 1 scramble team of Andrew Colip and Woody Woodrick shot a 78, while the No. 2 and No. 3 teams both shot 76. The No. 2 team consisted of Matt Adams and Brian Lembke. The No. 3 squad was made up of Adam Houin and Jeremy Bachman.
Brandywine's No. 1 scramble team of Doug Ely and Chris Rose finsihed with a 69. The No. 2 team shot 72.
Edwardsburg's Ryan Stoneburner and Ryan Morrell-Peters shot 76, while Khris Merrill and James Hentz shot 69 and Nate Harness and Tanner Leininger shot 80.
Edwardsburg's No. 2 team finished with a 255. Their scores were 74, 89 and 92. Mike Fantetti and Adam Derda shot 74 with Will Brubaker and Matt Archambault shooting 89. Derek James and Michelle Eaton shot 92.
Centreville Invitational
NILES - Buchanan's golf team opened its season Tuesday when it traveled to the Centreville Invitational to compete with 10 other teams.
The Bucks took sixth, with a total team score of 219.
Adams and Colip shot 71 in the best ball format, while Houin and Matt Stover shot 71 in the scramble format. Lembke and Bachman shot 77 as Buchanan's No. 2 scramble team.
Vikings take seventh at Gull Lake
NILES - It wasn't a top three finish like Niles has seen so far this week, but placing seventh out of 20 teams is still a great accomplishment.
The Vikes traveled to the Gull Lake Invitational Wednesday held at Gull Lake View West Course where they experienced competition that they haven't seen yet this season.
Alex Welch not only led his team for the third striaght day of competition, but also shot a 76 for the third day.
Scott Majerek and Chris Haase both shot 79s to round out the top golfers breaking 80 for Niles.
Jeff Jurgonski and D.J. Wolnik both shot 84s to give the Vikes a team total of 310 and earn them seventh place honors.
