It's a sure sign that summer is coming to a close when the athletic fields and gymnasiums become filled with students and coaches.
With the start of the new school year, teams in the area are fired up and ready for the upcoming season.
Fall sports is officially under way in Michigan and players, coaches and fans can hardly wait for that first buzzer to sound.
Girls' basketball, boys' soccer, cross country, competitive cheer and girls' tennis all had their first official practices Monday, while football and boys' golf started last week.
Golf has already begun in most parts of Michigan, with Niles opening its season on Monday and Brandywine and Buchanan opening their seasons today.
Girls' tennis will also begin later this week and next week.
All coaches and players seem to have one thing in mind, to have a successful season and grab a conference, district, regional or state title in the end.
But for most, it is only the beginning and getting by the first few games is enough to think about.
If you have a favorite school you will be rooting for or are just looking to catch a game, please be sure to get out and support your schools. There is nothing better than a team knowing they have fans behind them.
It's hard to believe we are already talking fall sports. It seems just a few weeks ago we were covering baseball and softball games and complaining about how hot and miserable the weather was.
Now we get to look forward to the jeans, sweatshirts, mittens and hot chocolate.
Whether it's 90 degrees or 40 degrees, on thing's for sure, fall is almost here, so get ready for some three-point shooting, rough tackling, goal scoring, perfect putting action.
Keep posted with the Daily Star for game locations, times and results.
