Brandywine starts Monday, Aug. 29

NILES - It's time to head out and buy pencils, notebooks and a new backpack as the first day of school is quickly approaching for those who attend the Brandywine Community Schools.
The first official day of school for the students will be, Monday, Aug. 29.
It will be a full day of school for students in grades seven through 12 and a half day for kindergarten through sixth grade.
Merritt Elementary: 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
A.M. Kindergarten: 8:30 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.
P.M. Kindergarten: 12:10 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Brandywine Elementary: 8:40 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.
Brandywine Middle / High School: 7:40 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.
Bell Education Center (Alternative Ed.): 8:13 a.m. – 2:37 p.m.
Students in grades eighth through 12 will receive their fall class schedules the first day of school in advisory. Seventh grade students will received theirs at an orientation session being held on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7p.m. at the high school gymnasium.
Parents needing to register a new student for the upcoming school's year may contact the individual buildings.
When registering a new student remember to bring a copy of their immunization records, birth certificate and social security number. In order to start school, a student must meet current Michigan Department of Health immunizatin requirements.
Those wishing to enroll in alternative or adult education classes can register anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the Bell Education Alternative/Adult Education program office. Child care services are provided for students attending this program, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Alternative education classes begins on Monday, Aug. 29, with a regular full-day class schedule.
Adult education classes will also begin on Monday, Aug. 29, with classes running Monday – Thursday, from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
All students living in the Brandywine Community School district are able to use the provided transportation.
Bus schedules will be posted on the front of Merritt Elementary beginning the week of Aug. 15 and at Brandywine Elementary the week of Aug. 22. All bus schedules will be posted in the Paw Prints school newspaper, which will be mailed out to district school residents approximately on Aug. 20.
This year the school lunch prices for both the elementary schools will be $1.20 for breakfast and $1.90 for lunch. At the middle / high school, breakfast will be $1.20 and lunch $2.10.
