NILES - Troopers from the Niles Michigan State Police Post have identified the driver of the vehicle which crashed on U.S. 12 near Gumwood, last Tuesday night, Aug. 2, which lead to the injuries of two good samaritans.
After several interviews, the driver was identified as a 21-year-old female from Niles.
The female was at the scene at the time of the crash and identified herself as a passenger.
The female was wearing her seatbelt and sustained no injuries. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The male subject observed leaving the scene was determined to be a passenger in her vehicle. The man has not been identified and it is unknown why he fled the scene.
Charges against the driver are being sought in the 4th District Court in Cass County.
