District 15 All-Stars split pair of games at regional

The Michigan District 15 Big League All-Stars split a pair of games in the Central Regional Softball Tournament at Pinery Park over the weekend.
District 15 rallied from a first game loss to Indiana to defeat Illinois on Sunday.
District 15 topped Illinois 1-0 after falling to Indiana on Saturday, 3-0.
The All-Stars, who include Dowagiac's Kim Luthringer and Maureen Pickar, will play again today at 2 p.m. against Wisconsin and again at 7 p.m. against Michigan District 9, the host squad.
District 15 had to go extra innings on Sunday to pick up its first victory.
The Michigan All-Stars scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to square their record at 1-1.
Whitney Miller and Kristy Stratton both singled to begin the game-winning rally in the eighth.
Miller scored the winning run.
Stratton picked up the mound victory as she allowed just four hits.
Luthringer had a hit for District 15, which finished with seven hits in the game.
Miller had two hits, including a double for District 15.
Illinois is now 1-2 in the round robin portion of the tournament, while Indiana is 2-1 and Wisconsin is 0-3.
District 9 has already qualified for the best 2-of-3 championship series.
On Saturday Indiana scored two runs in the first inning and a run in the seventh to complete the scoring.
District 15 outhit Indiana District 11, 6-3.
District 15 had the bases loaded in the second and seventh innings, but could could not drive home a run.
Pickar tossed a three-hitter but suffered the loss for District 15. She allowed just one hit after the first inning.
Lindsay Goldberg had three out of the six District 15 hits.
