NILES - In early April, Rana's New Generation, a hair salon located at 525 N. 17th St., in Niles received the greatest news. They were the recipients of a $25,000 salon makeover.
The salon was chosen as one of five finalists in an extreme salon makeover contest, sponsored by Takara/Belmont, a company which supplies beauty equipment.
Rana's was chosen the winner by those who cast their votes online.
Rana's New Generation is owned by Donohue and her sister Janice Hensel. The sisters are the third generation of their family to own the salon which was started in a home on Ferry Street by their grandmother, Rana Steiner, in 1957.
She was active in the business until 1998. Her son, Pat White, owned and operated the business with his wife Gail for over 30 years, until the sisters purchased it.
Donohue added, "Much of the work couldn't have been finished if it weren't for our family and friends putting in many hours, some into the early morning hours to get things finished. We also would like to thank everyone in the community who went online and voted for us to win this makeover."
With the new makeover Donohue and Hensel will be able to achieve their goal of providing customer service that exceed their clients expectations because their equipment and facility will exceed their expectations the moment they walk in the door.
As part of their own makeover celebration, Rana's New Generation is giving away a makeover, valued at up to $275, to one lucky customer.
