Monday marks fair deadlines

BERRIEN SPRINGS - Monday, Aug. 1 is the final registration deadline for all youth still exhibits, the baked pie contest, and the Farm Stock 1957 &Older Tractor Pull contest, for the 2005 Berrien County Youth Fair.
Entry forms may be brought to the fair office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on or before Aug. 1, postmarked by Aug. 1, or placed in the drop box outside the fair office after office hours until Aug. 1. If you have any questions, call the fair office at 269-473-4251. Fair dates are Aug. 15-20, 2005.
Still exhibits consist of crafts, home economics, flowers and horticulture. Youth exhibitors must be a Berrien County resident and be between the ages of five to 20 to enter still exhibits. Exhibitor handbooks and entry sheets are available at the fair office, MSU Extension Office (Benton Harbor) and Berrien County public libraries. Trays and containers for home economics and horticulture exhibits are available at the Fair Office.
Baked Pie Contest: All Berrien County residents are eligible to register in either the youth (ages 12-21) division or the adult (22 and older) division. Forms are available at the Fair Office or online at www.bcyf.org.
The contest will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20, in the USA/Ag Expo Building beginning at 9:30 a.m. Each contestant receives a one-day admission pass. Recipes must be submitted with the registration form by Aug. 1. No recipe changes are allowed after registration; variance in recipe will result in disqualification.
Farm Stock 1957 &Older Tractor Pull: The registration deadline for the 2005 Berrien County Youth Fair 1957 &Older Farm Stock tractor pull is Aug. 1st. Forms are available at the fair office or online at www.bcyf.org.
There is no entry fee or prize money for this event. Trophies will be awarded to the winner in each class and all participants will receive rosette ribbons. There will be two weight classes: the first class is 0 to 5500 lbs. and the other is 5501 and over. The classes are open to Berrien County residents only. Tractors must be stock and a limit of 10 per class will be on a first come first serve basis and only one model of each manufacturer per class.
This is a percentage pull, low gear and single tires only. The 1957 &older farm stock tractor pull will be held at noon on Monday, Aug. 15, in the grandstand.
