NILES - Community members can try their hand at acting tonight at a theater workshop.
The Niles District Library is holding its first Reader's Theater Workshop at 6 p.m.
The group will be similar to others of its kind, as they will do performances at senior centers, schools and for clubs through out the community.
The group won't be necessarily getting up on stage and acting out a play, but rather during their performances they read from scripts and the action takes place in the minds of the audience.
The workshops, which are being funded by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, will take place from July 28 through Sept. 15. There will be no class on Aug. 4.
Class participants will discuss charter, motivation, plot and learn the use of voice, facial expressions and hand gestures to interpret characters in the plays.
The classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Niles District Library.
The workshop is open to teens and adults, with space being limited. For more information or to sign up, contact Conrad Rader at (269) 683-8545.
