Intensity rallies to win at Warsaw

NILES - The Intensity Girls 14U NBGSA All-Star team won the Warsaw Class A Summer Slamfest tourney this past weekend, but it wasn't easy.
After completing pool play, Intensity faced the Indiana Lake Effect team and lost that game by the score of 6-5 with Lake Effect scoring two runs in the last inning.
Leading hitters for Intensity were Delaina Schoeder, Jenna Ignowski and Cricket Fisher with two hits each while Kaley Jones and Patty Anton each singled.
Intensity then faced the Ohio Peppers and scored two runs in the last inning to take a 3-2 victory.
Maggie Ernsberger led off with a single and Brooke Coshow drew a walk.
Emily Ross, Fisher and Jones followed with consecutive hits to score the winning runs.
Intensity faced Lake Effect again and this time won the game by the score of 6-0.
Kendra Zache and Ignowski combined to pitch a perfect game.
Holly Lucas and Zache contributed two hits with Coshow, Ignowski, Ross and Jones each contributing one hit.
In the championship game, Intensity scored another run to come from behind and win against Lake Effect.
After trailing by the score of 2-0, Lucas walked, Schroeder singled and Zache flied out in the final inning.
Ignowski then singled to center, followed by another single by Ernberger that tied the score 2-2.
Ignowski then stole third base and came home on a passed ball giving Intensity the tourney win.
Intenisty will leave for Tennessee on Sunday for the World Series.
