Blossomland Soccer league continues season ending tourney

NILES - The Blossomland Soccer League continued its season-ending tournament Thursday evening, dodging yet another afternoon thunderastorm.
In Bridgman at Ott Field, Dowagiac Diamonds United held off Athletic Jaier FC, 4-3.
Over in Arden, the top-seeded St. Joe Kickers blanked the Mariners, 6-0.
The United (6-3) got a pair of goals from Ismael Hernandez, while Rodolfo Hernandez and Hector Requenes also scored goals.
Jaier got its goals from Ian Spooner, Troy Sink and Nashir Carabali.
Jaier is now 5-4 on the year.
Dowagiac will now face the Kickers in a semifinal contest on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Kickers Club in Arden.
Athletic Jaier will host the Mariners on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The match is tentatively slated for Lake Township Park.
On Wednesday in Stevensville at Rockey Weed Field, Whirlpool United defeated the Tornadoes, 10-1.
Scoring goals for the United were Mike Dalton with three, Andre Motta with two, Santiago Restrepo with two, Brian Bickers, Takeo Ishii and Eduardo Ducatti.
Josh Walk had the lone goal for the Tornadoes.
At Ott Field in Bridgman, P&R FC defeated the Dowagiac Chiefs, 5-1.
Judson Soule had three goals and Matt Keller two for P&R.
Kyle Kowalski had the lone goal for the Chiefs.
Whirlpool United (7-1-1) will host P&R FC (6-3) in the second round on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Rockey Weed Field.
The Tornadoes (1-7-1) will host the Chiefs (4-5) in the second round on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ballard Elementary.
