NILES - The Blossomland School in Berrien Springs competed in the Special Olympics Softball State Tournament last weekend and didn't come home empty handed.
The first year state finalists brought home not only a bag full of pride, but a state championship win.
The Roadrunners played to games to grab the crown, winning the first 12-5 and the second 4-2.
The tournament was held in Canton where other teams from all over Michigan competed for the chance to win.
There are one or two teams selected from certain areas to attend.
A team skill evaluation and a team's regular season performance determines the skill level in which they are placed.
Blossomland is coached by Dale and LaDonna Smith, Bruce and Mari Peterson and JoEllen Rodriguez.
The team would like to thank all of their area sponsors for all of their support. They made this opportunity a reality.
