Dowagiac Roundhouse Round Robin finally under way

Play began on Tuesday in the 2005 Dowagiac Little League Roundhouse Round Robin Tournament.
A total of 32 teams will play 128 games over the next couple of weeks.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Play was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, however, rain forced the tournament to be moved back one day.
Monday's scheduled games in the 7/8-year-old Division will be moved to Friday or Saturday.
The elimination portion of the tournament will be played on Saturday, July 30 with the finals scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2.
On Tuesday night, Dowagiac's 7/8-year-old All-Star team suffered a pair of setbacks at Russom Fields.
Dowagiac dropped a heartbreaking 12-10 decision to Lakeshore in the first round.
In the second game, Oceola, Ind. edged Dowagiac, 9-7.
In other games, Granger defeated Howard Township, 15-7; South Portage defeated Howard Township, 18-8; South Portage defeated Eastwood, 11-10; Oceola defeated Mattawan, 16-9; and Lakeshore defeated Mattawan, 16-9.
Tonight the 9/10-year-olds hit the field with a full slate of games.
Dowagiac will take on South Side Little League No. 1 at 6 p.m. and then face Oceola, Ind. in the second game at 7:30 p.m.
Howard Township will face Mattawan in the 6 p.m. game and then take on Berrien Springs in the second game.
