Dowagiac ousted

The Dowagiac Junior Softball All-Stars were eliminated from the Michigan Little League District 15 Tournament on Monday by Mendon.
Dowagiac dropped a 4-1 decision to Mendon in Mattawan.
Dowagiac grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second innings, however, Mendon scored twice in the bottom of the second to take the lead.
Mendon scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring.
Dowagiac managed just four hits against Mendon, all singles.
Collecting hits for the All-Stars were Kara Roberts, Brooke Means, Caitlyn Courtney and Linzy Kling.
Joanna Pickar worked the first three innings, allowing four hits and striking out one.
Means pitched the final three innings, striking out two and allowing three hits.
The Dowagiac 11-year-old All-Stars will compete tonight in Vicksburg at 6 for the District 15 championship.
Dowagiac will take on Mattawan in a second championship game.
