NILES - A special art show is being featured at the Niles Art Association gallery.
Artists from the Northern indiana Institute for Artists with Disabilities, Inc. currently have their work featured at the Fisher Gallery at 306 Main St., in downtown Niles in a show titled "One For All."
On Thursday, July 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a reception. The event will feature refreshments as well as original jazz and easy listening music will be provided by Kelly Jones and her accompanist, Mark Nemeth.
The artists featured are from the Tanglewood Trace Retirement Home and the Anthony Wayne Services. These agencies provide services to adults who have disabilities in the Michiana area.
The individuals creating the works are overcoming their personal challenges. Many of them have limited communication skills, but are able to speak through the art they create.
The artist mainly use marker and water colors to create their works, but a few of them are venturing into the use of other mediums such as acrylic paint.
Three of the featured artists are Chris Lawson, Bill Pettine Jr. and Tom Hullihan.
Lawson uses markers and water colors to create his pure and one of a kind projects.
Pettine Jr. recently got into art and started experimenting with many different froms. He mainly does abstract pieces and uses watercolor and markers.
Finally Hullihan paints landscapes using acrylic paint and enjoys experimenting with many different mediums, while creating his special works of art.
Also at the gallery the work of various local artists are on display.
