Pastor has final service at Buchanan church

BUCHANAN - On July 17, Pastor Jill Rasmussen-Baker of the First Presbyterian Church of Buchanan, will say goodbye to her beloved congregation and transition to a position as Clinical Pastoral Education resident at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Ind.
Pastor Rasmussen-Baker has been serving the Buchanan area since October of 2001.
While Pastor, Rasmussen-Baker has helped God work in wonderful ways within the church including an increase in mission and mission giving to many local individuals and organizations and two mission trips with the church youth group to serve children and disadvantaged people in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Cairo, IL.
Although Rasmussen-Baker is excited about her new position, she is saddened to leave the congregation and church she has called home for the past four years.
Rasmussen-Baker's new position entails meeting the spiritual needs of patients and their families throughout St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
"There will be lots of concentrated time with my supervisor at my new position. It will be wonderful to be so heavily mentored and it is a huge opportunity for me."
Pastor Rasmussen-Baker will serve the First Presbyterian Church, 115 W. Front St., Buchanan, for her final Sunday of preaching on July 17. Following 9:30 a.m. worship, a potluck and program celebrating Jill's ministry will take place.
