Dowagiac's 8-year-old All-Star team had a pretty good weekend, winning at Paw Paw and taking third place at Hartford.
The All-Stars dropped an early game to Eastwood in the Paw Paw tournament, but battled back through the consolation bracket to capture the championship.
The tournament victory was made that much sweeter by the fact that Dowagiac twice defeated Eastwood to capture the title.
The All-Stars defeated Eastwood 14-11 and 13-3.
Dowagiac also came through the consolation bracket at Hartford to earn a high finish.
The All-Stars dropped their first game of the tournament and then reached the semifinals before being defeated by North Lincoln, 16-10.
Dowagiac's 8-year-old All-Stars will now compete in the Dowagiac tournament beginning July 18 and running through Aug. 2.
The team would like to thank all the parents, grandparents and everyone for all their support as they traveled to both tournaments, especially when there was more than one game in a day.
Coach Rick Lesniak would also like to thank his assistant coaches for the much needed skills and patience.
District 15 tournament
Dowagiac picked up a pair of victories Wednesday night, one in softball and one in baseball in the Michigan Little League District 15 tournament.
The Dowagiac Junior Softball All-Stars destroyed Three Rivers 17-1, while the Major Baseball All-Stars toppled Constantine, 10-4.
Dowagiac's 11-year-old All-Stars were also in competition, however, no results were available at press time.
