CASSOPOLIS - The 9/10 Niles FOP All-Star team defeated Cassopolis Monday evening 16-9.
Starting pitcher for Niles was James Krause, with Geordan Griffin, Kevin Hatcher, Ethan Zimmerman and Alex Wright coming in for relief.
The Niles FOP Allstars were led offensively by Doug Freeman with a home run, Ethan Zimmerman with a triple and a single, Derek Scott with a double and a single, Alex Wright with four singles, James Krause with three singles, Kevin Hatcher with two singles and Geordan Griffin, Maris Marazita and Connor Glick all with singles.
Niles FOP is now 2-0 in pool play and face Mattawan Blue on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Cassopolis.
The Niles FOP All-Star Majors will face South Haven this evening at FOP Park at 8 p.m.
Dowagiac vs. Schoolcraft
The Dowagiac 11-year-old All-Star team opened up Michigan Little League District 15 playoff action Monday night with an 18-9 victory over Schoolcraft in Niles.
The Dowagiac All-Stars are set to get back into action tonight as they host South Haven at 6 p.m. at Russom Fields in the third round.
The All-Stars will also face Mattawan on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Vicksburg and then wrap up round robin qualifier play on Friday at 6 p.m. in Mattawan.
In other action Monday night, Dowagiac was blanked b Mattawan in Junior Softball, 3-0.
Over in Cassopolis, Niles F.O.P. rallied from a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Cass All-Stars 16-9 in 9/10 Baseball.
Cassopolis' Major Baseball All-Star squad travels to Niles tonight to take on White Pigeon at 6 p.m.
