NILES - A first year program will help lift the burdens of heading back to school for some families.
The Faith Victory Fellowship church located in Buchanan, has started a new backpack program to help reach school-aged children of the area.
The newly formed women's group "Great Love Outreach" at the church is offering backpacks that will be stuffed with school supplies and other treats to the school children of Niles, Buchanan, Brandywine and even Galien.
Mitchell added, "There are so many single parent homes out there today, that it's often hard for them to be able to afford everything their child needs to go back to school. With the help of our backpack, they can spend the money saved on buying new clothes and other items."
The backpacks will cost the families absolutely nothing, but to get one for a child or children, families need to register.
The backpacks can be picked up on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., before the morning worship service.
To register your children for the backpacks, please call the Faith Victory Fellowship Church at (269) 695-1091, Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
