Babe Ruth regular season coming to a close

NILES - It was the last weekend of regular season play for the Babe Ruth baseball league before the start of the All-Star Tournament and State Finals.
Niles will be hosting the state finals this year. Schedules for the finals will be posted at a later date.
The schedule for state playoffs is as
follows:
Thursday, July 21
14-15 year-old division
Third place vs. fifth place, 6 p.m.
Fourth place vs. sixth place, 8 p.m.
Friday, July 22
Preps
First place vs. fourth place, 6 p.m.
Second place vs. third place, 8 p.m.
Saturday, July 23
First place vs. winner, 12 p.m.
Second place vs. winner, 2:30 p.m.
Monday, July 25
Preps championship, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, July 26
14-15 year-old championship, 7 p.m.
Rangers vs. Dodgers
The Rangers took charge Friday evening in Babe Ruth Preps action as they scored a 13-3 win over the Dodgers in four innings to improve their record to 7-4.
Kyle King and Tommy Flynn took turns at the mound for the Rangers. King threw five strike outs on the day and Flynn had three.
Ralph Sater suffered the loss for the Dodgers, throwing two strike outs and allowing five walks.
The Rangers were led offensively Jeremy Zimmerman, Nathan Clingenpeel and Shane Pompey all with singles, Aaron Davis had two singles and Mick Lindzy had a double and a single.
The Dodgers were led by Ramone Brown with two singles and a RBI and Sean Smith had a single.
Astros vs Indians
The Astros shut out the Indians Friday evening, 10-0, at Thomas Stadium in Babe Ruth Preps action.
Ricky Briand threw the heat at the mound for the Astros with 13 strike outs.
Cameron Smallman and David Sokolowsky both took turns on the mound for the Indians.
The Astros, now 7-5, were led offensively by Briand and Kevin Gross both with singles and Bryan Evans with a sac for one RBI.
Justin Wreggelsworth was the lone hitter for the Indians with a single.
The Indians are now 4-8 on the season.
Giants vs. Cubs
The Giants and the Cubs met Saturday morning for a rain delay make-up game, which resulted in a 9-7 win for the Cubs in the 14-15 year-old division.
The game was originally played on June 2 and was ended in the third inning due to rain with the score tied in the top of the third inning.
Travis Rooney and Joe Knuckles took turns pitching for the Cubs and both threw three stike outs.
Zeke Legus, Scott Stinebaugh and McClane Reese all took turns on the mound for the Giants.
Top hitters for the Giants were Shane Bankston with a single and Stinebaugh with a single and a RBI.
The Cubs were led by Rooney, Nick Hartman, Josh Smith, Sam Whittaker and Brad Heron all with one single each and Alex Lindzy and Dustin Zimmerman both had a double, single and two RBIs.
In the second game of the double header, the Cubs had a more comfortable 9-1 win over the Giants, improving their record to 13-2.
Zimmerman and Heron both pitched for the Cubs and D.J. Wolnik, Reese and Stinebaugh all took turns on the mound for the Giants.
The Giants, now 3-10, were led offensively by Reese with a double and Legus with a single and a RBI.
Top hitters for the Cubs were Jake Harris with a triple, single and a RBI, Zimmerman had a triple, single and three RBIs, Josh Eaves had two singles, Rooney had a single, double and one RBI and Knuckles had a single.
White Sox vs. Yankees
Trevor Errnsberger was the highlight of the game Saturday where the White Sox took an 11-6 win over the Yankees in Babe Ruth Juniors action.
Ernsberger set the tone for his team, nailing the first home run of the season at Thomas Stadium in the Juniors League.
With two outs and a runner on base in the second inning, Ernsberger nailed the home run add two runs to his team's score.
In the third inning, Ernsberger singled to bring in two runs and had a total of four RBIs in the game.
It was double trouble at the mound as the two Tyler's took turns pitching for the Sox.
Tyler Jackson and Tyler Knisley both had two strike outs.
Sam Hatch, Mitch Plott and Nick Musser all pitched for the Yankees.
The Sox were led offensively by Scott Worner, Dave Schoenlebor, Art Gaul and Knisley who all had one single and one RBI, Mike Connors had a single and a sac for a RBI, Jackson had a single, Derick Vigansky had a double to bring in two runs in the third inning and Rick Krassow had two singles.
The Yankees were led by Cody Maynard and Mitch Plott both with singles and Josh Getz, Keith Weber and Zach Bloss all had a single and a RBI.
Expos vs. Reds
A big lead early in the game helped give the Expos a 10-4 win over the Reds in Babe Ruth Juniors League action Saturday.
The Expos started in the second inning when Adam Saltzman singled to bring in the first run of the game.
With two outs, Nick Fedore brought in two more runs when he doubled. The Expos had a 5-0 lead after the second inning.
Another run in the fourth put them up 6-0, but the Reds rallied back in the bottom of the fourth when Dan Reidenbach and Noah Udell hit back-to-back singles.
Jake Ferguson sacrificied to bring in a run with Dominique Pompey doubling to bring in a run and bring the score to 6-2.
The Expos were able to take an even bigger lead in the sixth when errors worked to their advantage.
Top hitters for the Expos were Fedore with a double and three RBIs, Saltzman and Cody Pierson both had one single and one RBI, Glen Ferenczi had two singles and two RBIs and Derrick James had a single.
The Reds were led offensively by Jesse McCombs and Paris Dickinson both with one single, Reidenbach had two singles and a RBI, Ferguson and Cody Udell both had a single and a RBI and Pompey had a double and a RBI.
Indians vs. Rangers
The Rangers took a 17-12 win over the Indians Sunday in Babe Ruth Preps action.
Dustin Bell and Tommy Flynn took turns on the mound for the Rangers,
Bell threw five strike outs while Flynn threw one.
David Sokolowski, Brad Ritchy and Aaron Saltzman all took turns pitching for the Indians.
The Indians were led offensively by Sokolowski with two singles and one RBI, Kody Stroud had a single and a RBI and Saltzman, Zac Edquist and Steve Solkey all had one single each.
The Rangers were led by Aaron Davis with a triple and a single, Kyle King had a single and a RBI, Flynn had two singles and a RBI and Dillon Baily had a single.
Reds vs. White Sox
The Reds took a big 16-3 win over the White Sox in Babe Ruth baseball action Sunday afternoon.
Brad Ritchy and Tracey Kick both pitched for the Reds.
Justin Fredericks and Trevor Ernsberger both pitched for the Sox.
The Reds were led offensively by Jesse McCombs, Ritchy and Jake Ferguson all with one single each, Dominique Pompey had a double, single and four RBIs, Noah Udell had two singles and one RBI, Paris Dickinson had a single and a RBI and AJ Moore had a double, single and two RBIs.
The White Sox were led by Derick Vigansky with a double, Dave Schoenlebor had a single and a RBI and Rick Krassow had a single.
Yankees vs. Giants
The Yankees were victorious over the Giants, 9-4, in Babe Ruth basball action Sunday afternoon.
Mitch Plott and Zach Bloss took turns pitching for the Yankees.
Plott threw eight strike outs and Bloss threw one.
Chris Hayes, Scott Stinebaugh and John Rosoe all pitched for the Giants.
The Yankees, now 9-6 overall, were led offensively by Bloss with two singles and a RBI, Cody Maynard had a single, Cheese Ritchy had two singles and a RBI and Sam Hatch had a double and a single.
The Giants, now 3-10, were led by McCade Reese and Shane Bankston both with a double and a RBI.
