NILES - Cal Ripken's baseball field, located at Fireman's Youth Park, was filled with baseball players Wednesday evening, but they weren't playing a game.
Better yet, they were being honored for another outstanding season of baseball and all teams were recognized for their accomplishments this season.
All of the teams in the league were given trophies and a few players received some special awards.
Coaches awarded their teams with the trophies and even threw in a few little off the wall comments about some of their players.
For some kids, this was their first season playing on the field and for others, it was their last, with some being with the league for six years!
Whether it was their first year or their last, all kids seemed to have smiles on their faces to put a great end to a great season.
