The "Fear Factor Contest" is scheduled for Friday, July 29, starting at 7 p.m. on Front Street near the Haggin-Wimberley Bandstand in Beckwith Park.
The entire City of Dowagiac and neighboring communities are invited to watch this entertaining family event.
To participate as a contestant in the "Fear Factor Contest" you must be 18 years old and own, manage or be the agent of a business that belongs to the Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce.
The contest is limited to five male and five female contestants.
Contestants will go through four elimination rounds based upon speed, endurance and, you guessed it, their eating skills!
The "Fear Factor Contest" is being sponsored by Gary A. Booth, president of Landmark Mortgage Group Inc., also known as First Horizon Home Loans, and Patty Booth, owner of Booth's Country Florist.
Prizes include $150 in Dowagiac Universal Gift Certificates, a traveling trophy, t-shirts and a number of other gifts and gags.
Applications for contestants can be picked up at the Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce or Booth's Country Florist in downtown Dowagiac.
Participation is limited to the first five male and five female entries.
Only four male and four female contestants will actually participate.
The other two participants will be alternates in case someone is unable to participate. Friday, July 22, is the deadline for entries.
